(25R)-5-alpha-spirostan-3-beta-yl acetate - Introduction
Tigogenin Acetate (6-o-acetyl-3-hydroxytetraenol-3, 5-dicarboxylate) is a natural phytosterol compound. It is a white crystalline solid, soluble in acetic acid and organic solvents such as methanol and ethanol, but insoluble in water.
Tigogenin Acetate is widely used in anabolic steroid drugs and commodity perfume manufacturing and other fields. It can be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of synthetic glucocorticoid steroid drugs. In addition, it can also be used as a glucocorticoid and steroid ingredient in cosmetic formulations.
The method of preparing Tigogenin Acetate is usually through an assisted esterification reaction of commercially available Tigogenin. In this reaction, Tigogenin is esterified with acetic acid to form Tigogenin Acetate.
Regarding safety information, the toxicity research of Tigogenin Acetate is limited, so the effect on human long-term consumption or exposure is not clear. However, as a chemical substance, general safety rules for handling and use of chemicals should be followed, including wearing appropriate protective gloves and eye protection to avoid inhalation or skin contact. During use or storage, it should be kept away from ignition and oxidizing agents. In case of accidental ingestion or contact, seek medical attention immediately.
